About the Collective Soul Conference
Rising from the warm Sonoran desert of the Southwest, this Mediterranean style healing center is caressed by sun soaked palms that tower above the domed glass roof warmly illuminating the interior of the main asana room. |
VISION Our vision for this conference is to offer a self-contained, sacred space that we can fill with the essence of Shri for an entire weekend! This conference will have the feel of a festival, while allowing all levels of practitioner the freedom to immerse in deep study, play with friends in a wildly active asana class, or just hone their awareness of yoga alignment in a more basic asana class. Conceivably, a student can take an asana class, a philosophy class, munch on some healthy snacks, shop at the booths in between classes, meditate or sun on the patio or lawn, get a massage or henna tatoo, mingle with friends, drink a great cup of chai (tea) and by 8:00 PM be ready for the Drum/Dance Circle or the Kirtan Chanting event! This self-contained conference will have so much Shri built up, we just might go into orbit! |
THEME AND STRUCTURE OF THE CONFERENCE Registration begins at noon on Friday and your experience begins with a panel-discussion from all of the conference presenters on the "5 Acts of Shiva", the conference theme. You will receive your program book on arrival which will contain your itinerary, as well as your study guide. From there, the teachings build on that theme, which will be contiguous throughout the weekend. While it is not necessary to attend all the classes, you will still receive the full teachings as each instructor will present and masterfully weave these teachings throughout each class! We will end on Sunday afternoon, with a Closing of the Circle Ceremony. What better way to end such an auspicious event? |
ADDITIONAL CLASSES In addition to the asana classes, the presenters will give additional teachings on more philosophically related topics, in a separate classroom, which will weave the weekend's teachings into an even deeper integrative understanding for attendees. These classes will run concurrent with the asana classes so that all classes begin and end simultaneously. This releases the attendees into the main hall every 2 hours, for 30 minutes, where you can refresh, relax, eat or shop. This steady pulse of energy, this ebb and flow, throughout the weekend, synchronizes our minds and hearts so that we are truly melded together in the truest sense of kula! |
MEALS You will not even need to leave for meals during the day, unless of course you want. All throughout each day, light meals and snacks in the form of fresh, organic, homemade soups, sandwiches, salads, juices, bars, fruit, etc., are available for purchase. This will keep attendees energetic and strong without heavy, filling meals that are hard to digest, weighting you down! There are, however, plenty of great places nearby to dine, and there is night-life as well for those especially ambitious. |
